My healthy transformation started a few months ago when I got a device that counts my steps and calories expended. This has been really helpful to me because I hadn't realized how little I was moving. I had a goal to walk 10,000 steps a day and improve my overall health. Hitting that number daily has become really important to me. So much so, that if I am close to bedtime and notice I haven't gotten my 10,000 steps in, I will run around the house to make sure I hit my goal. My husband thinks I am crazy, but this has been very motivating to me and has helped me to start a healthy transformation that involves moving more and making better food choices.

Do you have a healthy transformation as well? Sara Lee® wants to hear about it and help you celebrate. Share you story by entering to be one of 45 finalists in the Sara Lee Delightful Person contest. Each week, Sara Lee® Bread Facebook fans will vote on which Delightful Person they find most inspiring. The person that receives the most overall votes will win $4,500! Plus each of the 45 finalists will also receive free bread for a year, an iPod shuffle, workout gear and more! The best part is that everyone is a winner! Each participant in the 45 Delightful People kegiatan will automatically receive a free tee-shirt.

Sara Lee® Delightful Breads come in some great varieties like 100% Whole Wheat (made with real honey), Healthy Multi-Grain, Wheat and the new Oatmeal flavor. All the varieties have no artificial colors or flavors, contain no high fructose corn syrup and are a good source of fiber. But the kicker for me? They all taste delicious and contain only 45 calories per slice.  I love using it to make a sandwich, with eggs in the morning or spread with a little peanut butter when I need an afternoon pick up.

Recently I had a craving for some french toast but wanted to keep things light, so I used Sara Lee® Delightful Breads Healthy Multi-Grain. One of the things that has helped me to eat better is to practice portion control. I didn't want to whip up a large french toast casserole so I used a four inch ramekin to make an individual serving. Making a small portion with the 45 calorie bread allowed me to satisfy a craving while losing none of the taste.

Ingredients:

You will need a four inch ramekin for each serving.
  • 4 slices of Sara Lee® Delightful Bread cut into circles
  • 1 egg

  • Dash of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of powdered sugar
  • Syrup

To make one serving of light french toast you will need four circles of bread and a four inch ramekin. To make the circles, use a glass a little less wide than the bread slice and press it down on the bread to get a circle cutout.

Just look at that whole grain goodness!

Preheat panggangan to 375 degrees. I used a toaster panggangan which made the whole thing super easy. Spray the ramekin with cooking spray. and place one of the Sara Lee® Delightful Bread circles at the bottom of the ramekin.

Beat together egg, milk and cinnamon.

Pour one tablespoon of the egg/milk mixture over the bread.

Repeat the process with another layer of bread and a tablespoon of egg until you get to the last bread circle. When you have added the fourth and selesai bread circle, add two tablespoons of the egg mixture on top and let it soak in. You will have some of the egg mixture left over but you can discard it.

Place in a 375 degree panggangan for 15-20 minutes or until the top turns a golden brown. I cooked mine for 16 minutes.

Dust the top of the french toast with powdered sugar and a few tablespoons of syrup. I made sure to pour some syrup near the edge of the ramekin so it would seep down into the french toast.

This breakfast is so good that it will take care of any french toast craving you happen to have. Plus, you can eat it right out of the ramekin and not dirty another plate. That is always a plus in my book!
