Kids Can Be Fashion Designers With Barbie®
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Barbie®. The opinions and text are all mine.
When I was a kid I loved my Barbie® dolls. I really loved to personalize the dolls and make them my own. This included giving them (bad) haircuts and designing clothes for them. I would raid my mom's fabric stash and cut outfits for my dolls, and not knowing how to sew, attach them with safety pins. Let's just say all my outfits looked great from the front. From the back, not so much. Plus, I was constantly getting poked with safety pins. I cannot believe how far Barbie® has come since I was a kid. Now my kids can design and print clothes for their Barbie® dolls and create outfits with a bit of bling with The Barbie® Fashion Design Maker™ Doll and Barbie® Sparkle Studio™ Doll.
I have three daughters, twin six year olds and a four year old, and they were all able to create customizable fashions with the Barbie® Fashion Design Maker™ Doll.
You can d0wnl0ad the app on your tablet or head over to the Fashion Design Maker™ website to start designing. This experience had my girls so enthralled that they were able to take turns and work together to create the perfect outfit.
The things you can do with the Barbie® Fashion Design Maker™ app offer a million possibilities for your outfit. You can choose from various colors, patterns, accessories and even upload a photo to appear on your outfit. Once my daughters heard about this feature, they had to upload a photo of our cat Charlotte. Poor Charlotte had no idea that she was about to hit the runway.
After uploading the photo, my kids were able to decide what size it should be and where it would appear on the outfit.
Before printing, we could see how the outfit would look on our Barbie® doll. What do you think? Personally I would have left our cat off of it, but I wasn't the one doing the designing. I'll have to design my own outfit when the kids are at school.
What makes Barbie® Fashion Design Maker™ so unique is that it comes with eight printable fabric sheets which allow kids to bring wearable, custom fashions to life.
In just a matter of minutes, my kids were able to design an outfit and print it out.
The clothes we created can be stored in an included portfolio so we'll be able to re-use them again and again.
After the outfit has printed, the sheets of clothing easily peel off. No scissor required here!
They can then be stuck on the Barbie® doll. These fabric clothes are repositionable so if your child makes a mistake when applying, it is simple to correct.
The tops and skirts are each assembled in two parts so little hands can maneuver them and smooth them out.
The fabric sheets contain darts so that they can be easily be applied over Barbie®'s curves. She is just rocking that cat shirt! If that isn't enough for you, the kit also comes with ruffles, trims and glitter accessories. You can find the Barbie® Fashion Design Maker™ at Walmart, Target, Amazon and Toys R' Us.
If you have budding fashion designers like I do, then they will also love the Barbie® Sparkle Studio™ which gives kids the chance to add glittery embellishments to Barbie®'s wardrobe to make it shine.
With the Barbie® Sparkle Studio™ doll, this can be done in just a few easy steps. First, my kids decided what pattern they wanted on their outfit - animal prints, shapes or trendy patterns. Then they rubbed the adhesive pattern on Barbie®'s clothes, peeled off the protective paper, and added glitter with the included, refillable glitter pens. The last step was to brush away the excess glitter and Barbie® was ready for the runway!
Kids can really customize the look by mixing and matching patterns. I was surprised how professional the clothes from Barbie® Sparkle Studio™ came out. You'd never know that they were made by six year olds. You can purchase Barbie® Sparkle Studio™ at Toys R' Us, Target, Amazon and Walmart.
