Teaching Kids To Fight Hunger - Free Word Search

As a participant in this campaign with Walmart, I have received compensation for my time and efforts in creating this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #WeSparkChange #Shop2Give

It is never easy to have a discussion with kids about hunger. It is something that normally is not in their experience. I thought a way to tackle the subject was to create a word search for the kids using words that are important in the Fight Hunger Spark Change campaign. We talked about how there are people that are hungry all over America and went through the list of words on the end hunger word search. We discussed each word and I explained ones that my kids didn't know. This really got them thinking about the issue of hunger and how they could help.

I have included a free end hunger word search printable that you can use with your kids as a spring board in your discussion about hunger.

The words can be found up, down, backwards, forwards, and diagonally.

After learning so much about the issue of hunger in our own country, my kids were interested in helping and making a difference. An easy way anyone can do that is by purchasing participating products at Walmart.

Walmart hopes to eradicate hunger with the help of consumers across the nation and six key vendors (Unilever, General Mills, ConAgra, Campbell’s, Kellogg’s, and Kraft). The goal is to provide 75 million meals to Feeding America Food Banks nationwide.

My daughter was happy to go to Walmart with me, purchase items that we normally buy anyway, and help fight hunger at the same time.

When you buy a participating item at Walmart from April 6th-May 3rd, that item is scanned at the register and logged as 1 item purchased. That item secures a meal* on behalf of a local Feeding America food bank.
1 purchased item = 1 meal*
Register giving ($1, $2, $5 or other)
Social sharing 1x = 1 meal

Walmart is not responsible for donating the meals, the supplier partners listed above are responsible for that.

*The monetary equivalent of meals will be donated. $0.10 is equivalent to one meal secured by Feeding AmericaⓇ on behalf of local member food banks. See Walmart.com/FightHunger for details.
*Feeding America National Office Approved Meal Cost Calculation
    (Effective July 1, 2014 -- June 30, 2015)

$1 helps provide 10 meals1 meal is equivalent to $0.10

You can also help when you and your friends share on social media using the #WeSparkChange hashtag. Walmart will donate $10, up to $1,500,000, to Feeding America for every post shared. Please visit Walmart.com/FightHunger to find out more details about that and and watch the real time giving tracker. My kids had fun with this one. We would check it every day to see how close they are getting to reaching their goal of securing 75,000,000 meals. They are currently just over 20,000,000 meals so they need our help.
