How To Make Calzon Pockets
Recipe by Naiya Sheth: After a long time it's time to make restaurant style baked pockets. Calzon are basically folded Italian bread. It is stuffed with beans, vegetables and lots of cheese. In this home made recipe outer layer is made from pizza dough. Normally they are baked but can be fried also. So try this cheesy, delicious recipe of Calzon Pocket today.
Preparation time - 10 minutes
Cooking time - 10 minutes
Baking time - 15 to 17 minutes
Makes -6 pockets (approx.)
Ingredients to make Calzon Pockets:
For outer layer:
1/2 recipe of pizza base
For stuffing:
2 table spoon oil
1 tea spoon garlic paste
1 small onion finely chopped
1/2 cup tomato pure
1/2 cup baked beans
1/8 cup boiled kidney beans
1/4 cup finely chopped paneer
2 table spoon boiled sweet corn
2 table spoon finely chopped capsicum
Salt to taste
2 table spoon tomato ketch up
1 table spoon red chilly powder
1/2 tea spoon chilly flacks
1 table spoon sugar
1/2 tea spoon corn flour
1/2 tea spoon corn flour
Grated cheese as needed
Oil for brushing
Method to make Calzon pockets:
For stuffing:
- Heat oil in a pan and garlic paste add onion to it. Now cook for 2 minutes.
- Now add tomato pure to it and burn excess water from it. Now add beans, capsicum and paneer to it. At last add sweet corn and dry spices to it.
- Now add tomato ketch up and cook for 2 minutes. At last add corn flour slurry and cook again. Switch off flame and then add grated cheese to it.
- Mix well.
How to assemble:
- Make equal balls from pizza base.
- Take a ball and roll it, place stuffing on half the portion and then fold it.
- Now seal it properly with fork.
- Repeat the same for remaining.
- Bake them in preheated panggangan at 200`c temperature for 15 minutes or till light brown in color.
- Brush pockets from top after 7 minutes of baking and then continue baking.
- When ready remove from panggangan and again brush with oil.
- Hot and delicious Calzon Pockets are ready to serve.
