Patriotic Game For Kids
Anytime we entertain our friends, I look for fun ideas that will keep all the kids busy. If you are hosting a 4th of July BBQ or gathering and have kids attending, here is a simple to make Patriotic Game for Kids. I had my kids help me make the game, which truth be told, is very fun for 4dukts as well. This game really gets kids moving and laughing. Try it and see for yourself! If you will be having kids at your gathering, you can also try these delcious Patriotic Cupcakes. You can use a box mix to make things easier and learn how to create patriotic red, white and blue frosting.
You will need:
- 2 paper plates
- Red, white and blue paint
- Paint brushes
- Masking tape
- Red and blue balloons
- Large red popsicle sticks
Have the kids paint red, white and blue stripes on the curved side of two paper plates. We used different paint brushes for each color so we didn't have to constantly keep cleaning the brushes.
Allow the plates to dry. When they have dried, place a large, heavy book on top of them overnight to prevent them from curling up.
When that is done, use some masking tape to attach the large, red popsicle sticks to the backs of both plates.
Now the paddles for your patriotic game are ready.
Blow up the balloons and you are ready to play! We tried a few variations with this patriotic game for kids. One way to play is like a tennis game where the kids swat the balloon back and forth to each other.
Another fun way to play is to give each child one paddle and one balloon and see who can use the paddle to keep their balloon up in the air the longest. It is always fun to watch the kids (and 4dukts!) twist and jump to keep the balloon from hitting the ground.
By the way, a little wind makes this game a lot more fun and challenging. My kids burned off lots of energy chasing these balloons around. Try this game for kids at your 4th of July gathering!
