Besan Barfi/Besan Ke Laddu A Rich Winter Special Recipe

Recipe by Naiya Sheth: It's time to say goodbye to winter. But before that, I would like to aware you all with one of my favorite winter special recipes. That is Besan Barfi, can be called besan ke laddu also. Basically, it is made with pure ghee (clarified butter), besan, caster sugar and lots of nuts. It tastes great with lots of cardamom powder. So, don't wait to make this homemade recipe of besan barfi/besan ke laddu


Preparation time - 5 to 7 minutes
Cooking time - 10 to 12 minutes

Ingredients to make Besan Barfi - Besan ke Laddu a Rich Winter Special Recipe:

1 cup gram flour
1/2 to 3/4 cup ghee
3/4 cup caster sugar
2 to 3 tablespoon cardamom powder
Chopped almonds, pistachio and cardamom seeds as per choice


Method to make Besan Barfi - Besan ke Laddu a Rich Winter Special Recipe:

  • In a thick base, pan add ghee and let it melt.
  • Add besan/gram flour to it. And roast properly. Stir continuously.
  • Roast until light brown in color. It will release a pleasant fragrance.
  • Let it cool for 3 to 4 minutes and then add caster sugar and cardamom powder to it. Mix properly. 
  • If you want to make laddu you can add nuts in this mixture and then make small laddus from it. Keep aside. 
  • And if you want to make barfi place this mixture to a flat baking tray and sprinkle nuts and cardamom seeds.
  • Again rest for minimum 30 minutes and then cut with sharp knife.
  • If needed heat knife while cutting.
  • Store in airtight container. Normally you can store this homemade recipe for minimum 15 days.
